About Us

The E-CO2 Project is the UK's leading provider of on-farm energy
and carbon auditing.
A joint venture between CMS UK Services and Kite Consulting, we
have significant experience throughout the food supply chain and
have worked with a large number of the UK's leading food processors
and retailers.
Our assessments are accredited to PAS 2050, the industry
standard for carbon assessment. Our life-cycle assessment is
reported per unit of output, and we offer advice to clients helping
them to improve environmental performance in a practical and
sustainable way whilst benefiting from potential cost savings.
Why measure carbon output?
There is increasing pressure on all aspects of the food supply
chain to reduce their carbon footprint, particularly livestock
production.
Government policy is driven by the Kyoto Protocol - the goal of
which is to see participating countries collectively reduce their
emissions of greenhouse gases below the emission levels of 1990 by
2012.
The UK government has also established a clear position on
carbon emissions through its 'Food 2030' report and there is also
increasing pressure from consumers for the UK food supply chain to
demonstrate a pro-active approach to this issue.
Although voluntary at present, we are encouraging our clients to
lead environmental issues rather than be driven towards
targets. This is a positive marketing opportunity for clients
and allows them to be seen as environmentally responsible.
